Psalms 19:23

In Week 4 of The Fear of God sermon series, Pastor Taylor teaches “The Benefits of Fearing God,” a message rooted in Proverbs 19:23: “The fear of the Lord leads to life, and whoever has it rests satisfied; he will not be visited by harm.”

The fear of God is not panic or terror. It is a profound sense of awe, reverence, and respect for the Creator. It comes from recognizing God’s supreme power and holiness, and it produces humility, wisdom, obedience, and a life that seeks to honor Him.

In this sermon, Pastor Taylor explores three powerful benefits connected to fearing the Lord:

• Life: The Hebrew word ḥay points to being alive and living joyously.

• Contentment: The Hebrew word śābēa describes being satisfied and at peace with what God has provided.

• Protection from harm: The Hebrew word rā refers to evil, distress, injury, or calamity.

This does not mean believers will never experience trouble. Instead, we can trust God for protection, sufficient grace, spiritual growth, and the strength needed for every season.

Pastor Taylor also shares three practical ways to walk in the fear of the Lord:

• Give God the right of way in every plan and decision

• Allow love to be the highest motivation behind everything you do

• Value truth more than money, comfort, or personal gain

The fear of God changes more than what we believe. It reshapes our priorities, our choices, and the way we live each day.

As you watch, consider:

Where are you asking God to approve plans He was never allowed to lead?

Is love truly motivating the way you speak, serve, and respond to others?

What would change if you valued truth more than personal gain?
